What I give – and how much time I have
You want to help, listen, do something – but your time is limited.
This chapter will help you identify what you want to give and what you are truly capable of offering.
🛠️ Three steps
1. Make a small clarification – for yourself
- Who do I want to give my time, help and attention to?
- Why do I want to do this?
- How much of it do I actually have?
→ You can give with clarity and moderation.
2. Make a small decision that matches your rhythm
- I may help – but not always.
- I may listen – but also take a break.
- I may say: "I don't have much time today."
→ You may be kind – without losing yourself.
3. Make a small gesture to help you clarify things
- Write down whom you want to give time to today.
- Be honest with people about how long you can stay.
- Take a small step, according to your own measure.
→ You may give – without overwhelming yourself.
🧾 Mini-exercise: What I want to give – and how much time I have
| What I want to give | Why? | How much time do I have? | My small step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listening in a quarrel | Because I want to help | 10 minutes | I say: "I’ll listen briefly." |
| Helping with a project | Because I want to belong | 30 minutes | I say: "I’ll join for half an hour." |
| Playing with siblings | Because I like him/her | 15 minutes | I say: "I'll play with you for a while." |
→ You may give – with measure and effect.
🕊️ Closing impulse
You may help – without losing yourself.
You may listen – without overwhelming yourself.
You may give – with your own measure.
You may be kind – and still set boundaries.
